An introduction to these affirmations:
Astrology is a tool — one we can use to understand people better, especially ourselves. It is also a tool we can actively use to improve ourselves and the world around us. It is not meant as a passive description of how people are, nor is it meant to be a predictor of how the future has to be.
The sign that the sun was in on the day of your birth, your sun sign, is the default meaning for any reference to “your sign” when talking about astrology. This is the sign everybody refers to when they say, “I’m a such-and-such sign.”
But it’s not just about your birth date — that gives you your sun sign. The true depth of astrology needs your time and place of birth to identify all of the characteristics of your birth chart. If you know your full birth chart, you will also know your sun sign, moon sign, and rising sign. These are often referred to as The Big Three of astrological interpretation. You can choose to work with the affirmations for each of you sun, moon and rising sign.
- Your sun sign represents your character, will, destiny, ego, and primary motivations. These are more overtly seen by yourself and others; although less so if you were born at night.
- Your moon sign symbolizes your emotional direction and habitual responses as well as how you emotionally react or commit to something or someone. These are less conscious, less seen, by yourself and others. They will, however, be more evident if you were born at night.
- Your ascendant sign (a.k.a. rising sign) highlights how you present yourself to the world. This is the constellation that was coming up to the eastern horizon at your time of birth.
The 12 tracks that follow this talk are sets of 108 affirmations (why 108?) for each sign. Each set of 108 affirmations is a mixture of two groups of affirmations for your particular zodiac sign.
Firstly Affirmations for recentering yourself: This first group covers the strengths of your sign. These affirmations help you to remind yourself who you are and what your strengths are for when you’re feeling off-center and want to reconnect with who you really are on your good days.
Secondly Affirmations for personal growth: This second group is intended to balance some of the sign’s less endearing qualities. The affirmations are included to help you achieve some deep personal change, make a difference in how you’re showing up in the world, and improve your relationships — including your relationship with yourself.
The reason for mixing the two sets together is help you feel comfortable in yourself with your strengths so that you are supported while feeling uncomfortable with other affirmations that may stretch you a little.
So welcome. Enjoy the set or sets of affirmations that apply to you. And if you have any questions along your journey, I’d love to hear from you. Please reach out to me using my contact page.
